How we score UK roulette apps

Every score on rouletteapps.co.uk is calculated from primary data using the rules on this page. The methodology is published so you can reproduce our scores, check our working, and decide whether our framework reflects what matters to you.
Version 0.3 introduces two independent scores: a Roulette Score and a Trust Score. These answer different questions and should be read separately. Operators are ranked by Roulette Score. Where Roulette Scores are equal, Trust Score is used as a tie-breaker.

Why two scores?
Version 0.2 used a single blended score that combined roulette product quality with operator reputation. This creates a misleading picture for rouletteapps.co.uk: an operator with one live provider and an average iOS app can rank above an operator with three providers if the first has a strong Trustpilot score.
Trustpilot reflects how customers feel about an operator's overall business — billing, payouts, customer support, promotions. It does not reflect how good the roulette app actually is. These are different things. Mixing them into one number hides both.
Version 0.3 separates them:
- Roulette Score answers: How good is this operator's roulette app? Platform, iOS quality, live provider depth. This is what the site is for.
- Trust Score answers: How trustworthy is this operator? Regulatory standing, consumer sentiment, responsible gambling. This is important context, not the primary ranking signal.
The main comparison table and homepage ranking use Roulette Score, with Trust Score as the tie-breaker. Trust Score is shown alongside it as a secondary signal on every operator card and profile.
Score bands
Both Roulette Score and Trust Score use the same band thresholds out of 100. A band does not indicate whether an operator is safe or appropriate for you — it indicates performance on the specific dimensions measured.

Roulette Score 100 pts total
The Roulette Score measures the quality of the roulette app itself. It does not include operator reputation signals — those belong in the Trust Score.

Platform Availability 15 pts
Platform availability is a baseline requirement. We score three access modes. iOS is the primary platform because an equivalent quality API does not exist for Android.

iOS App Quality 35 pts
iOS App Store ratings are the most reliable publicly available signal of user satisfaction in the UK gambling app market. The Apple iTunes Search API provides ratings and review counts without authentication and with no commercial risk.

Maximum: 35 pts. Recency is calculated from the app's update date in the iTunes Search API.
Live Roulette Providers 50 pts
The quality of live roulette depends almost entirely on which studio powers the tables. Provider depth is the most roulette-specific dimension in the model and carries the most weight. Points are awarded only where live roulette — not just live casino — has been verified in the operator's lobby.

Trust Score 100 pts total
The Trust Score measures how trustworthy an operator is as a regulated UK business. It is shown as a secondary signal — it should inform your decision about an operator, but it does not drive the main ranking.

UKGC Licence 50 pts
All operators we score hold a UK Gambling Commission licence — this is a prerequisite for operating legally in Great Britain. The 50 pts reflects the foundation that regulatory compliance provides.
We verify licence numbers directly against the UKGC public register at gamblingcommission.gov.uk/public-register. Note: iTunes seller names do not always match UKGC licence holders — several operators use different legal entities for their app store presence and their gambling licence.

Betfred note: Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited holds an ancillary remote licence (primarily a retail operator). The online casino entity may differ. Betfred receives 25 pts (investigation) until this is resolved — they are definitively licensed and operating legally.
Trustpilot 30 pts
Trustpilot scores in the UK gambling sector are structurally depressed by complaint-driven review patterns. The sector average is 1.2–1.3 — not because operators are especially untrustworthy, but because dissatisfied customers disproportionately leave reviews. We score relative to this sector context.
Scores are verified directly from Trustpilot.com. SERP-sourced estimates are not used. Where direct verification has not been completed, Trustpilot contributes 0 pts.

Responsible Gambling 20 pts
Responsible gambling tooling is a statutory requirement for UKGC-licensed operators, but the depth and accessibility of tools varies. We audit five specific features and award 4 pts per confirmed item.

Maximum: 20 pts. Responsible gambling scoring is based on available public information for each operator. Unverified dimensions score 0 pts under this methodology.
Score methodology notes
Any dimension that has not been directly verified contributes 0 pts to the relevant score. We do not estimate, assume, or carry forward sector averages into the displayed score. The exception is UKGC investigation status (25 pts) where an operator is definitively licensed but the specific operating entity has an ongoing regulatory investigation.
Scores marked with ⚠ contain one or more dimensions based on inferred or unverified values. Both the profile page and comparison table display this indicator where it applies.
This means scores for operators with limited provider confirmation or lower Trustpilot positions may improve as additional data is verified. All scores are dated and attributed on each profile page.

Limitations
- No Android quality score. Google Play has no equivalent to the iTunes Search API. Android data is limited to presence or absence. Operators with poor Android apps are not penalised.
- Trustpilot is structurally noisy in the gambling sector. The sector average of 1.2–1.3 reflects complaint-driven review behaviour, not objective operator quality. We apply sector context but Trustpilot remains a weak signal in this category, particularly for operators below 2.0.
- Live provider verification is manual and periodic. Operators change provider contracts. A confirmed provider may no longer be present if the data is several months old.
- Responsible gambling scoring is based on available public information. All operators currently score 0 pts on the RG dimension under our methodology. Trust Scores therefore reflect UKGC licence status and Trustpilot data only.
- This is a platform score, not a personal recommendation. A high Roulette Score means an operator has a strong roulette app by our criteria. It does not mean that operator is right for you. Gambling involves financial risk. Please gamble within your means.
